Dare to play - ludum dare - part 1
So without further ado, let's cut to the chase and get on with it.
In this game you control runner who goes around room, your task is either to avoid traps or to destroy them using some sort of weapon. But there is a catch if you use it you drop it and you need to pick it up again and direction of character you control change. Game feels complete and polished, something that is ready to be released. Art is very good, consistent and atmospheric. Gameplay is solid and addictive, there are no problems with controls and that is very important in this kind of games. The only thing That I really miss are powerups, and bit more eye candy effects, but hey it was made in only one weekend. Those guys have the mojo!
Toy Robot : The Room Defender
As the title suggest you control toy robot, from first robot perspective. Your goal is to kill as many bugs as you can in 2 minutes. First of all congratulations to Rixud for completing his first jam, it is really hard to complete a game and even harder to make it over weekend! But, unfortunately game isn't that much fun. It feels like you are controlling the toy robot, all clunky and slow, but on the other hand you feel completely overwhelmed by bugs and their speed and agility. Graphics are kinda dull and greens are not the best color theme for this kinda game, it takes place in the child's room, so my guess would be some cartoony style and colors. Also the game is not rewarding enough to the player. When you play you just do not have enough motivation to kill another bug. Some graphic effect or death animation would really help. But we think that Rixud game is really good and promising as a first submission.
Who let the blobs out?!! Here your task is simple you need to keep all the blobs in line using the grappling hook, you shoot at one and then you aim at the other and catch all in between. This is fun and interesting puzzle game, we enjoyed playing it. Graphic has it's charm but there is a room for improvements, for example different kind of blobs would make game more appealing. But this game was made in 48h, that's something and it has interesting concept and good execution.
Bit weird but in good sense, you are controlling siblings: teenager, kid and a toddler in their dreams. Each one has a some sort of nightmare and you need to help them survive. You need to pay attention what is happening in the each dream and switch between them if there is some crysis. Game is really polished, it has outstanding music and really good-looking art style, reminding early 16 bit era. Controls are bit awkward but you can get use to it. To sum up the game has something in it, be it combination of graphics and music and the dream theme, that makes you wanna come back to it.
That's it for first part, there are 11 more games currently in the queue, so expect to see more of this posts.
